Welcome!

The Produce Nerd is a celebration of all things related to produce, including fruits, vegetables, nuts and flowers, and all of the hard work that takes place in the produce industry to bring those products to the market. The goal is to keep you interested in learning more about fresh produce, so that you will want to incorporate more into your daily eating habits, regardless of what type of diet you follow.

Who is The Produce Nerd?

Hi, I’m Megan Crivelli and I am a lover of all things produce!

Megan Crivelli

I spent my entire college education and career, thus far, focusing on agriculture and produce. I got my Master’s in Postharvest (which is the study of everything related to what happens to produce after it has been harvested, including pre-harvest conditions that affect produce postharvest), and is what I really enjoy learning about the most, which I’m sure you can tell if you’ve had a quick look around the site! (If you want to know more about my career specifics, you can always check out more and connect with me on LinkedIn.)

I have taken my background knowledge and now spend my time helping produce companies market their produce, show where fresh produce comes from, and share fun and easy produce tips. And, the very best part is that I now have two little sidekicks that like to get in on the action too!

Here is a glimpse into my little family that I mention frequently! This is my husband, Andrew, and our sweet little babies, Anabelle and Noah!

There is also an extensive “behind the scenes” section of the website that shows you straight from the field/facility what happens to your produce during the harvesting/packing/processing processes before it reaches the grocery store.
