Fresno County Blossom Trail: A Self-Guided Tour Through the Blossoming Orchards!

You are currently viewing Fresno County Blossom Trail: A Self-Guided Tour Through the Blossoming Orchards!

By now, I am sure you have noticed the beautiful fruit trees in bloom, whether it be trees in your neighborhood or orchards that you have driven past up and down the highways. This is one of my favorite times of the year! So when I discovered that the Fresno County Blossom Trail exists, I decided to give it a go!

What is the Fresno County Blossom Trail?

A trail that was created to take you through California’s Central Valley to see the beautiful blossoming stone fruit and almond orchards. You have the option to go through and see just the stone fruit and almond orchards, or you can take the extended loop and see the orange blossoms as well. This is a self-guided trail that you can experience at your own time, in your own vehicle, for free.

The Trail takes you throughout Fresno County, and past multiple orchards that are producing different crops, and therefore, different blooms. Just like with fruit, the blossoms are not all in full bloom at the same time. There are so many different orchards, though, that you do not end up missing out.

Here are a few gems from our self-guided tour:

You can also see an overview of our tour during the 2018 season below!

There are a few orchards that have signs signaling what fruit is being grown in the orchard. For the rest of the orchards, you will either need to use your product knowledge or take your best guess!

Who Should Visit the Fresno County Blossom Trail?

Everyone! The blossom trail should be exciting for anyone who is interested in agriculture, pretty scenery, flowers, pollination, etc. When we went on the trail, we saw everyone from young children to grandparents, people with drones flying over the orchards, and even a nice man who went through and picked up trash on the edge of the orchard bordering a main road.

When to Visit the Fresno County Blossom Trail?

Each year, the bloom period differs depending on the weather conditions (learn more about that here). The Fresno County Blossom Trail updates their website each year to inform you when to go.

You can also wait until the fruit is growing on the trees to go and enjoy the fruit trail!

Where to Go?

The Fresno County Office of Tourism sells maps in their office and also offers a general trail map on their website that you can find here. However, all you need to do is get to the trail. Once you make it, there are signs throughout signaling the “Blossom Trail” and telling you when to turn. As long as there is more than one person in the car, you will be fine!
